Artist Statement:

Human instincts and emotions can at times be too basic or complex to articulate solely in words. It is our natural instinct to communicate what we see and feel through images and other creative expressions. As a visual language, I find that images can bring forth a broad range of emotions, interpretations, and meanings for each person.

For many going through a life changing experience, Art can have an undeniable power to expand and transform peoples’ lives. Creative engagement brings us into the moment, puts us in touch with who we are, and connects us with others. As a means of personal expression, I believe creativity helps nourish and bring harmony to the mind, body, and soul.

For as long as I can remember, Art has been at the heart of my life as a means of exploring my environment, learning from my experiences, and expressing the deepest parts of myself. It was through the diverse materials of Art that I found creativity to be my most sacred form of expression; a journey within myself and through the relation of others.

It is my ambition as an Artist and Art Therapist to give hope and encouragement to people during times of adversity, as well as support the creative expression and imagination of others as an essential component of overall health and well-being.

Expressing myself through art helped me discover the person I am today and cultivate a meaningful sense of compassion for the creative self-expression of others. Art is not only a form of communication, but a way of life and an essential part of my being.

About:

I began my journey in higher education at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio where I majored in Art and in Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy. My love for the creative process brought me to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to experience Mount Mary University where I graduated with a Master of Science in Art Therapy and a concentration in Counseling. Currently, I am working as an Art Therapist in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The purpose of this website is to share my art as a visual narrative of my personal transformation as an Artist and Art Therapist.
